I’m the broke out-of-work actor cliche I always wanted to be.

Hey there, folks.

I’ve always wanted to start a blog. This seems like the appropriate place. I guess I should introduce myself; I’m just another starving artist. Nice to meet you. I’m 22, I live in Brooklyn, and according to my birth certificate I’m a woman. More importantly, I’m an actor, writer, and sometime NYU student. To pay the rent, I have taken on many jobs over the years, ranging from the ridiculous to the humiliating to the mildly irritating to the “okay”. Right now I’m making serious bank, as the kids says: $8 an hour to dress up as a pirate and sell toys in South Street Seaport. It sucks because well, $8 an hour sucks. And did I mention I stand outside all day in a pirate outfit? I also babysit, which is fun, and pays better. Plus, changing diapers and eating rich people’s food never gets old.

In my “spare time” I go on auditions so I can get rejected because I’m too tall or too short or too fat or too thin or too brunette or not brunette enough. Or you know, too bad at auditioning. I’m going to be in an acting showcase next week. My friends and I spent way too much money on putting one up for agents and casting directors, but it looks like no one is coming. Good times. I don’t know if I can pay the rent this month on my nanny/pirate salary. Oh well, I’ll get by, as usual. Maybe I’ll get a job dressing up like a chicken. Or maybe I’ll get a job as an extra on Law & Order, playing a corpse. That way I could finally get some sleep.

Ah, overworked and overtired, squeaking by on minimum wage while $50,000 of student loans looms over my head. Every little girl’s dream.
